Fixing “Import Failed” Errors in Minecraft

Solutions for “Import Failed” errors when installing worlds or packs on Minecraft Bedrock.

Updated over a month ago

“Import Failed” appears when Minecraft can’t unpack or install the file.
This is typically caused by low storage, a corrupted file, or outdated game version.

Quick Fixes

1. Restart Minecraft

Fully close the game, then reopen it.

2. Check your device storage

Minecraft needs extra space to unpack worlds and packs.

3. Update Minecraft

Older versions may not support newer content files.

4. Redownload the file

The file may have been corrupted during download.

5. Simplify the file name

Rename it to something simple like podcrash.mcpack.

Device-Specific Fixes

iOS / Android

  • Ensure at least 1–2 GB free space

  • Delete old worlds via:
    Settings → Storage

Windows

  • Check for duplicate worlds with the same name

  • Run Minecraft as admin if needed

After a Successful Import

Your content will appear under:

  • Worlds:
    Play → Worlds

  • Texture Packs:
Settings → Global Resources → My Packs

  • Skins:
    Dressing Room → Classic Skin
