Managing Minecraft Storage to Avoid Import Issues

How to safely clear Minecraft storage to prevent crashes, failed imports or performance issues.

Updated over a month ago

Minecraft stores worlds, packs, and cache files inside the game. When storage gets full, imports may fail.

How to Check Storage

Open:
Settings → Storage

You’ll see categories such as:

  • Worlds

  • Resource Packs

  • Behavior Packs

  • Cached data

Safe Items to Delete

  • Worlds you no longer use

  • Old marketplace packs

  • Duplicate packs

  • Large unused resources

Use Minecraft’s Storage menu — not your device’s file explorer.

Avoid Deleting Files Manually

Do not delete Minecraft folders manually from:

  • File Explorer

  • iOS Files app

  • Android storage

This can corrupt Minecraft.

Tips to Prevent Problems

  • Keep 1–2 GB free on your device

  • Clear old unused worlds regularly

  • Restart Minecraft after clearing storage
